The German villains in DIE HARD confuse me?
In Die Hard, the classic action film with bruce willis, the villains appear unmistakably german, but when Hans Gruber is on the hunt for john with his henchman Karl, he proclaims "Schießen Sie Fenster" and Karl doesnt understand, leading to and english translation being needed "shoot the glass". why is this,i dont understand?
Most American viewers are simple minded and like to know what is going to happen before it happens. They don't pay attention to the foreshadowing of the movie. People need Instant gratification. It's really a shame that people hate to use their brain power. In order to sell more tickets the script writers, make the foreshadowing and the event in a bang bang way. Regardless if the bad guys were German or neighboring country's the language barrier wouldn't exist. The majority of europeans speak multiple languages. Its only Americans that feel that they don't have to. Your answer is that Karl would have understood the directive and carried it out.
