Tripod Spotting Scope
Tripod Spotting Scope
My DSLR and lens ?
For background, I have a Canon 300D and a 300mm lens. I need to get around 35x magnification. I have a few options to choose from:
1) buy a cheap telephoto lens for about $200 (>1500mm)
2) buy a cheap ($100) spotting scope and T mount adapter to attach the camera directly to the scope
3) buy a cheap ($100) spotting scope and universal digital camera mount so I can mount the scope on a tripod and mount the camera physically behind the eyepiece
4) buy a 2/3x teleconverter to use with my 300mm lens and then crop the photo
5) take the photo with the 300mm lens and crop
What's your opinion on the best option. At least choose the least worst. I know that none of the options are preferable but I can't go burning money on a $800 scope or $6000 telephoto lens. Thanks for your opinion
cheap glass is not the way to go regardless of how its mounted.
take the shot with the lens you have now. crop as needed.
