What are Catskill Style Dry and Wet Flies?

My friend and I are doing a science fair project that determines the best product to use on a bird's feathers to remove oil on them. In order to do this we need to find some bird feathers. We found a website that sells the (http://www.baxterhouseflyshop.com/servlet/the-Fly-Tying-cln-Tying-Materials-cln-Feathers--fdsh--bulk/Categories), but we don't know if its a legitimate site or real feathers. In the description for the small/medium duck feathers it says they are used for "Catskill Style Dry and Wet Flies" and since neither of us have knowledge on this topic we don't know what these are or what type of feathers or normally used for them (real or fake)

go into the woods, get some feathers, return, viola!

a bear in the woods - dirty... ish?

one peaceful day in the woods of colorado a river trout is enjoying his day in the streams. The fish spots a hovering fly just 6inches out of reach for the fish to catch. At the same time a bear sees the fish and waits on the river bank for the trout to jump out of the water Behind the bear a hunter waits for the bear to grab the fish so he can get a clear shot. Behind the hunter waits a mouse eyeing the large peice of cheese that's about to fall out of the hunter's pocket. Behind that mouse a cat waits for the mouse to emerge for the cheese.

suddenly the fly drops 6 inches.
the fish grabs the fly
the bear jumps up and grabs the fish
the hunter shoots the bear, losing the peice of cheese in his pocket in the process
the mouse runs for the peice of cheese,
the cat sees the mouse and leaps for it, but misses and falls into the river.

what's the morale of this story?

If a fly goes down 6 in. a p*ssy will get wet!!!

Im scared of flying!?

im going on a 10 hour flight on thursday to america which im looking forward to but im terrified of flying!!

knowing there is nothing below me for 30,000 feet terrifies me, and with this recent hole in a 747 im more worried!!

THE PLANE IM GOING ON IS A 747 TOO!!

any advice? i have travel socks for DVT btw and i understand flying is incredibly safe and im far more likely to die just sitting here on the computer.
actually its true planes can land without any engines on isnt it?

they just glide and slowly fall. and i think the planes are going to be REALLY safe now because of that incident the other day, everyone's going to be checking their planes throughly

the qantas plane was older and it was from a very very long flight(more than 15 hours before the stopover in hong kong) and they landed fine, the only thing that happened was that a few people threw up once they got off the plane. and now since that happened procedures of checking planes and safety checks are going to be much more thorough. and yes flying is so safe, even if the engines fail in an almost impossible chance the plane will still float and nothing would happened, and everyone has a lifevest and there are life rafts

I had an old penn surfmaster that always got birdnests. I never had this trouble with my other setups, so I know it wasn't me.
I took it on a trip to Mexico thinking I would do a little fishing there. We had an accident, the driver (a friend) rolled the car. The cops down there wanted money to let us go home. (The car was a rental, so we didn't care about it) I told the head cop thet were broke and were headed home when we rolled the car(a lie, we were going the other way) and all I had to offer was this "top of the line" best ever fishing pole.You should have seen his eyes lite up with greed.
I got rid of two problems at once that day!

can anyone give me any info on a split bamboo fly rod called african steel cane? I can not find anything on it?

it has more writing under these words but I can not make them out. I am 51 y/o and this rod was my great grand dads. it is in mint condition and I would like to know more about it. any info would be greatly appreciated. thank you Robb

it was (is) an inexpensive split cane rod with a tempered steel rod running up the center. if in good condition, it may have some collector's value.
